Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he witnessed first hand the situation of a divided society. With twenty-eight years in diplomacy, he has worked for the United Nations, Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the UK Foreign Office, and the European Union. An expert in international relations in countries in transition, he is an avid negotiator/mediator and political analyst, driving the importance of civil society. A senior adviser to heads of diplomatic missions in the Balkans he has lived the evolution of the foreign affairs, development, intercommunity dialogue, conflict prevention and resolution, enlargement, and security and defense policies of the European Union. He has participated in training programs in different institutions and given lectures in international relations, security and cooperation and in civil-military coordination. Working in Kosovo since 2014, his good offices and subtle diplomacy have gained him a reputation of honest efficiency among both national and international stakeholders.
