Capturing Women Leadership – Second Edition

Women in the history of art have often been seen as the muses of a man, be it a painter or photographer, sculptor or director. It was their glow that received attention, often leaving their virtues and potential in the background. And not only women artists, but women who changed the course of world history, who broke barriers for themselves and for others, not always received the deserved light, space, and attention. Just as art always tends to awaken new energies, raise questions, and send us to new horizons of communication outside the box and inspire us, so is leadership an art in itself, which through a vision for the future, must inspire others to share their passion on this common journey.

The purpose of this exhibition is to explore the nuanced position of women in Kosovo and to unravel, appreciate, recognize, and value their diverse contributions to various aspects of society, hence serving also as sources of inspiration for many young women in Kosovo. “Capturing Women Leadership – Second edition” will feature ten additional women and will be presented during the upcoming “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign. The exhibition and accompanying panel discussion aim to continue inspiring young people and emphasize the significant contributions of women across Kosovo’s society.

Their inspiring words will flow with the yellow ribbon of leadership characterized by innovative style, creative values, and out-of-the-box thinking. The opening of the exhibition will take place on December 3 (Tuesday), 2024, from 18:00h, at the Barabar Centre in Prishtina. This is the second edition of the exhibition. 10+10 successful women leaders from Kosovo. To be continued…

The exhibition will be open until December 13, 2024, every working day from 12:00 h to 17:00 h.

This exhibition is realized by Integra with the support of UNMIK.

Prisoners of Conscience

The book “Prisoners of Conscience: Memoirs about Politics, Prison and Torture (1945-1999)” presents a collection of personal stories of former political prisoners, men and women, who endured violence, oppression, and torture in the former Yugoslavia. Through in-depth interviews and historical documentation, the book examines state strategies for political persecution and oppression, experiences of imprisonment, torture, and survival in isolation, the role of political resistance and activism for peace and equality, and the importance of preserving collective memory and its impact on contemporary history.

In addition to the book launch, there will also be the opening of the photo exhibition “Prisoners of Conscience: Memories of Resistance and Conscience,” which documents and highlights political activism, the power of political conscience, and the role of collective memory in building a more just and humane future, bridging the space between pain and hope.

The promotion and opening events takes place on Monday, December 16, at 18:00 h.
